With the increasing attention paid by the country to the development of environmental protection and energy-saving industries, rare earth permanent magnet materials will have huge development potential in new energy fields such as new energy vehicles and wind power. Rare earth permanent magnet materials are important materials for improving the performance and efficiency of new energy vehicles and related products. After inspecting BYD Company in Xi'an in February 2014, Premier Li Keqiang stated that the development of new energy vehicles, especially new energy buses, will improve urban pollution and noise problems. In advocating for the use of new energy vehicles by everyone, the government should play a demonstration role. This is bound to trigger market and capital investment enthusiasm for the entire new energy vehicle industry chain.

In this year's government work report by Premier Li Keqiang, it is explicitly stated that new energy vehicles should be promoted, motor vehicle exhaust should be controlled, and oil standards and quality should be improved. Moreover, the government's reports have repeatedly emphasized energy conservation, emission reduction, and environmental governance, reflecting the government's determination to address environmental issues. Developing new energy vehicles will become a top priority in addressing environmental pollution and promoting the development of the automotive industry.

This indicates that the country will promote the development, mass production, and promotion of new energy vehicles. The development of new energy vehicles is bound to become a major trend in the future development of the automotive industry, and the development of this industry is bound to drive the vigorous development of a large number of related industries such as rare earth industry. Based on the requirement of 3 kilograms of rare earth permanent magnets for every 60 kilowatts of new energy vehicles, a total of 1500 tons of rare earth permanent magnets are needed.

Since the promotion of new energy vehicles in 2009, relevant policies have been intensively released until 2014, greatly promoting the increase in the number of new energy vehicles. On February 16th of this year, the Ministry of Science and Technology issued the "Implementation Plan for Key Special Projects of National Key R&D Program for New Energy Vehicles (Draft for Comments)", which plans to establish a sound electric vehicle power system technology system and industry chain by 2020, providing technical support for achieving a total of 5 million new energy vehicles by 2020.

Due to the close connection between rare earths and new energy vehicles, the development of new energy vehicles has been put on the government's agenda, which undoubtedly gives wings to the development of the rare earth industry. According to some data, since the emergence of new energy vehicles in China, the use of rare earths has increased exponentially.
